Abstract

COVID-19 is a disease that has caused a global pandemic and has plunged the world into an unprecedented health crisis. Through our study, we conducted a survey among the pharmacies of the wilaya of Béjaia in order to know how they organized themselves during the different waves of this health crisis. We targeted three different aspects: the role of pharmacists as the first health professionals available to face the COVID-19 pandemic, the different measures they have implemented to carry out their tasks, and finally, the many difficulties and different obstacles they faced. In order to carry out this survey, we elaborated a questionnaire, which contained different questions aimed at answering our objectives mentioned above, and we distributed it to pharmacies throughout the wilaya of Bejaia. The study was conducted from 01/02/2022 to 30/04/2022 and 80 questionnaires were collected. After analysis of the results, we found that almost all the pharmacies (95%) had suffered severely from the lack of pharmaceutical products related to COVID-19. Despite this, the pharmacies were very professional in terms of patient counseling and safety measures undertaken. As for vaccination, 63% of the participants were in favor of carrying out this procedure in their pharmacies, but in the field, only one pharmacy had introduced it, the others reported a lack of the required conditions
