Abstract

Work is an important priority in our daily lives. Over time, it has undergone a great evolution, especially in dedicated places and working methods. After the COVID-19 pandemic, new forms of work have emerged, such as remote work and self-employment, which Algeria has accompanied with laws and mechanisms that encourage innovation and creativity. This has contributed to the emergence of start-ups.In this work, we will address these new forms of work in order to design spaces adapted to the nature of work. First by dealing with the evolution of work in Algeria in history and the adaptation of workplaces to new changes. Then, we explored the concepts related to each type of work, the technical requirements they imply as well as the adaptations that have accompanied the evolutions of the tertiary sector. Finally, we analyzed examples in contexts similar to the proposed project. To anchor our project in our realities, we conducted a substantial survey of four workplaces in Setif, mobilizing different modes of investigation (interviews, questionnaires, observations). This made it possible to identify the specific needs of Algerian workers, and their relations with the workplaces in which they work. The idea of the proposed project is modular equipment, which adapts to the nature of the work for which the building is designed, leading to design a versatile and flexible building, in which users can control the spaces and modify them according to their needs.
