Abstract

Rosmarinus tournefortii is a promising aromatic and medicinal plant in North Africa due to its richness in active compounds such as phenols, flavonoids, and essential oils. In this study, the focus was placed on the extraction of these compounds and the preparation of cosmetic and therapeutic formulations intended for hair care. Samples were collected from the Ouled Tebane region (Sétif province), dried, and then subjected to steam distillation for essential oil extraction. Subsequently, an oil blend based on rosemary and sesame oil was developed, along with a natural balm and hair serum. To evaluate their effectiveness, a clinical trial was conducted on 30 participants over a period of 8 months, divided into two groups: the first group used only the oil blend, while the second followed a complete routine including the balm and serum. The results showed a significant improvement in hair health in terms of density, growth, and shine, especially among participants who followed the complete routine. A significant reduction in hair loss and improved blood circulation in the scalp were also observed. These findings confirm the biological efficacy of the formulated products, particularly due to the synergy between the components of rosemary and sesame oil, thereby reinforcing the potential of this plant for future applications in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
