Activité antioxydante in vitro d’ extrait des écorce de grenade

Abstract

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is known for its medicinal properties, particularly antioxidant properties. This study aimed to enhance the value of its peel by estimating its polyphenol, flavonoid, and tannin content, as well as evaluating the ferrous ion chelating activity, reducing power, and antioxidant capacity of the extract obtained by supercritical water extraction. The results showed a high content of total polyphenols (43.44 ± 8.05 mg EAG/g) and flavonoids (33.71 ± 10.01 mg EQ/g), and a low content of tannins (0.02 ± 0.005 mg EC/g). For antioxidant activity, the chelating effect was significant (IC50 = 0.080 ± 0.027 mg/ml), on the other hand, the reducing power was moderate (EC50 = 0.211 ± 0.031 mg/ml), and for beta-carotene oxidation, there was a strong inhibition (92.32 ±2,0557 %), indicating that pomegranate peels are a promising natural source of antioxidants.
